If I can have an impact on one person a year, like Julie had on me, it would bring me intense happiness and fulfilment.
May 2013. I remember untagging myself from a picture on Facebook. Commenting on the pic: “I look like I gained 10 kilos on this pic”. And then “please, somebody, tell me I don’t really look like this?”
13 March 2014. My turning point. I remember seeing a “before and after” weight loss pic on Instagram from Julie -a girl I know. I told myself: “if she can do this, I can.” I sent her a private message on Facebook and asked her for some tips. And without realizing, her tips were the seeds to an entire new life.
Avocados and lemons
Now, I have always been a huge fan of cooking. And eating. When I was just a little kid, my dad loved to cook with his little girls. And to eat. No calories were counted, almost under the motto: “it’s always better with some cream, cheese or any other form of fat or sugar”.
As such, it became a real adventure for me enjoying my cooking and eating as much as I did before. No more chocolate brownies (or at least a more limited amount of them) and no more eating crisps when watching series or a movie. They were put aside for inter alia flax seed, cashew nuts, raspberries, oatmeal and of course avocados and lemons.
A new life, great love, a new country and amazing friends
It turned out that this was only the first step towards a happier, healthier life. In February 2015, I found my way to the gym, where I went from zero to my own hero. I realized that doing sports doesn’t suck out the last bit energy left, but, on the contrary provides you with so much energy and confidence in all aspects of life. I can tell you right now –it’s nearly impossible to explain you what impact it had on me. But I can tell you that it brought me a new life, great love, a new country and amazing friends.
But I can tell you that it brought me a new life, great love, a new country and amazing friends.
So what would I like to achieve with this blog? First and foremost, I’d like to push the ones that need an extra push to achieve their goals. If I can have an impact on one person a year, like Julie had on me, it would bring me intense happiness and fulfilment.
Next, I’d like to take you on my journey. Show you what motivates me, what gives me energy –but also the difficulties I experience and the mistakes I made.
I truly hope you enjoy this blog. In any case, never hesitate to reach out to me, in whatever way.
