“She was fierce, she was strong, she wasn’t simple. She was crazy and sometimes she barely slept. She always had something to say. She had flaws and that was ok. And when she was down, she got right back up. She was a beast in her own way, but one idea described her best. She was unstoppable and she took anything she wanted with a smile.” R.M. Drake

I’m fierce and strong, I’m often complicated and sometimes a tiny bit crazy. I’m willing to give up sleep. I always have something to say. I have plenty of flaws and I guess that’s okay. When I’m down, I’ll try to get right back up. I’m a hero in my own way. But one idea describes me best. I go for it and I do it with a smile.

And I think “avocados and lemons” doesn’t do justice to that anymore. Of course I like cooking. And avocados. And lemons. But what’s more important: when life gives me lemons, I’ll make lemonade out of it. I like to take up challenges and share my experiences and adventures.

And yes, I took up quite some challenges lately. I moved abroad. I moved in with my new boyfriend (yes, that too is quite a challenge sometimes!). I went from “can-not-run-1-kilometer-without-dying” to practising for an 18 kilometer obstacle run. I went from “not-being-able-to-do-1-push-up-ever-ever-ever” to “yes, I can do pull-ups” (ok, still practising to do 10 proper pull-ups in a row, but I’ll get there). And finally, I’ll be changing jobs on 1 March. And with all these things, so many other things changed.

So when I was thinking about my blog, I figured it needed a small update. It had to be more “Ancy” and less “granny-with-too-much-time-who-grows-her-own-veggies-in-her-vegetable-garden”. I took me about 2 months to realize what I wanted it to be. And in these two months I came to realize that I actually kind of amazed myself. In fact, if you would have told me a year ago that I would be in this place in my life now, I would not have believed you. I would not have believed I would have had the guts to do so. But I did. And although I’m far from perfect, I’m my own she hero.

The purpose of this blog remains the same. First and foremost, I’d like to push the ones that need an extra push to achieve their goals. If I can have an impact on one person a year, it would bring me intense happiness and fulfilment.

Next, I’d like to take you on my journey. Show you what motivates me, what gives me energy –but also the difficulties I experience and the mistakes I made.

I truly hope you enjoy this blog. In any case, never hesitate to reach out to me, in whatever way.

Looking forward to hear from you,
